The Draper Senior Center’s Chair
of Bowlies

Becoming the absolute perfect way to warm up on a fall day, the Draper Senior Center’s Advisory Council held its annual “Life is Just a Chair of Bowlies” fundraiser on November 7. The event began three years ago when the center first opened and the Advisory Council needed a creative way to raise money. Organizers looked to the seniors and decided to sell beautiful pottery bowls made by the talented seniors themselves. Patrons purchase a bowl of their choice and this buys them endless soup, salad and breadsticks donated by local restaurants and stores. Generous sponsors include Black Bear Diner, Egg & I, Even Stevens, Goodwood Barbecue, Great Harvest Bread, Harmon’s Grocery, Kneader’s Bakery & Café and Wendy’s. For pictures of the event, see our Good Times section on page 8.

Holding Out HELP Finds
New Home in Draper

Holding Out HELP exists to assist those from a polygamous background with the resources necessary to meet their physical, emotional and educational needs. A generous donor purchased the property on Pioneer Street to help HOH meet the needs of men, women and children who are transitioning from polygamous communities into mainstream society. This center will provide a space for educational workshops, emergency multi-family housing, case management, counseling offices, large group activities, a clothing bank, after-school tutoring and more. Midway Ice Castle

The Ice Castle is back in Midway, but with a new location at 2002 Soldier Hollow Road. Come get your “Elsa” on and experience the glorious concept pioneered in one of the originators’ front yards and built from harvested icicles. Castles weigh approximately 25,000,000 pounds with walls that are ten feet thick, and are the perfect place to explore on a winter day. For a longer excursion, go tubing at Soldier Hollow too, or make it a full day in Midway, when, on January 16, the area will host its Winterfest at Midway Town Hall.
