Local Students Bring Timeless Tale to Life
West Side Story, a musical take on one of the greatest love stories of all time, will be featured at Corner Canyon High School in Draper on November 17, 18, 19 and 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the CCHS Auditorium. This timeless classic tells the story of a modern day Romeo and Juliet who are involved in rival New York street gangs. On the harsh streets of the Upper West Side, two gangs battle for control of the turf. The situation is complicated when a gang member falls in love with a rival’s sister and tragic consequences ensue.
The story stars Adam Packard as Tony, Nicole Canaan as Maria, Savanna Cox as Anita, Brandon Bills as Riff and Sam Schino as Bernardo. The cast includes 85 actors, 40 dance company members, 30 technical theatre students and 25 orchestra members. This huge collaborative production is a put on by the talented and award-winning Corner Canyon High School Performing Arts Department: Phaidra Atkinson and Case Spaulding (Theatre), Melissa Thorne (Vocal), Jamie Crowther (Dance) and Randal Clark (Orchestra).
